Specialisterne has been finding meaningful employment for neurodivergent people since 2004. Founded in Denmark, the organisation has since expanded into 14 countries. We are internationally recognised as the first and best example of true neurodivergent inclusion in the recruitment and employment sector. Highlighting the true value of hiring neurodivergent people and empowering individuals to be more confident and independent is a mission we hold close to our hearts.
Specialisterne Ireland was set up in 2013 to support people on the autism spectrum to gain and maintain employment in an Irish context. Specialisterne Ireland has developed hiring and management practices that facilitate the employment of our candidates by removing the barriers to once inaccessible industries and careers.
Since our establishment in 2013, Specialisterne Ireland have successfully partnered with more than 50 companies. We, along with Specialisterne organisations worldwide, are working to prove the business value in hiring people who think and communicate differently and to build capacity for diversity in the labour market.
In 2016, under changes in the Companies Act (2014), Specialisterne Ireland Ltd. became Specialisterne Ireland CLG (Company Limited by Guarantee, Company Number: 2981268PH). It is also a registered employment agency (EA 3757) and a registered charity (RCN 20200622). Specialisterne Ireland is a social enterprise with a mandate to be self-sustaining.
Simply put, being neurodivergent means that your brain works differently to how some people may expect. It may mean that you need to find models and strategies to help you navigate situations that other people find more straightforward. It also means you see the world with a different perspective and bring different ideas and skills.
Conditions that fall under the umbrella of neurodivergence include autism, ADHD, dyspraxia and dyslexia.
Neurodivergence can be something you’re born with, like autism, or can develop as a result of trauma. We believe that being able to classify your neurodivergence can help you pinpoint resources and tactics to help you manage in a neurotypical world, but we will always treat you as an individual with your own needs and preferences.
We offer a wealth of services to support neurodivergent people into fulfilling employment. From life and careers coaching to help them find their niche to communication training to give them the tools they need to express themselves more effectively. If you think our services could be beneficial to you, or to someone you care for, get in touch today.
